YOUTH DROWNED

Tasman Stephenson, aged 19, was drowned in the Waikato River near Huntly yesterday when he fell from a launch in which he was duck shooting. Stephenson, a youth ef fine physique, was employed at the coal mines. With another man about the same age. Leslie Harris, Stephenson set nut by launch and proceeded down the river for about two miles north of Huntly. The boat struck a submerged snag causing it to lurch suddenly. Both youths were standing in the well at the stern of tho launch. Stephenson lost his balance and fell into the river, but Harris, who was steering, was able to steady himself. Stephenson was unable to swim and before his companion could right the launch he (Jisgp peared. A strong current was running. the river being very deep at the place where the fatality occurred.
