FLOWER SHOW AT OHINGAITI EXHIBITS OF HIGH STANDARD (From Our Own Correspondent) OHINGAITJ, May 15. Tho Presbyterian Church was lav oured with an exceedingly nice day fo> the annual Chrysanthemum Show yes terday. The quantity of entries was down slightly on last year’s show, but tho standard of tho entries and work on exhibit was well up to the usual high class. On opening the show, Mi Murray congratulated the workers on the efficiency of the organisation m general. Tho judges were: Chrysanthemums. Mr Gibson (Marton); decorative, Mrs Bartrop (Feilding); home industries. Mesdames Abel and Stratford (Hunterville); sewing, Mrs Gower (Marton), produce, Mr Scott (Taihape). Tho hon. secretary, Mrs R. J. Lin ton, had the clerical branch up to hei usual high standard of perfection. The takings on the day will not be quite up to those of latter years, no doubt being an indication of the hard times experienced all round. Mrs Loury, assisted by Mrs T. Stew art and Miss D. Ramsay, organised a delightful concert for the evening’s en tertaimnent. The programme was: “Wedding of the Painted Doll,” with' effects, by the children; song by thej <( Shimptinm Chorus;” recitation, Jean Loury; “Slumptime Chorus;” local hits, Mrs Loury and company; song. Miss Ramsey (encored); song, Miss McIntyre (encored); character sketch, Mrs McKnight; pianoforte solo, Loonie Stent; closing chorus by “Slumptime Chorus;” Grand National Anthem.
