TE KUITI RACING CLUB

NEXT WEEK’S AIEETING 1-TR.ST DAY’S ACCEPTORS

BRIGHT GLOW RETIRES

WON CONNOLLY HANDICAP Twelve months ago the Connolly Handicap was run on tho opening day of the Wanganui Jockey Club’s winter meeting, having been tho principal flat handicap of “Steeplechase Day" for over a quarter of a century. A change has been effected this year, and at the present moment it appears likely to prove a success, tho committee having decided to run the Connolly Handicap and the Wanganui Steeplechase on the half-holiday. The winner of the Connolly Handicap twelve months ago was the Day Comet mare Bright Glow, who was the third Taranaki winner in successive years. Bright Glow will not bo on hand to-day to attempt to repeat her victory, for she has been retired from the turf. She ran her last race at the Egmont meeting last week. Bright Glow was a good performer, her stakowinnings aggregating £6480. Among other races she won the Easter Handicap at Ellerslie in 1929, the Stratford Cup in 1928 and 1930, and the Wellington Racing Club Handicap in 1930, after running second to Concentrate in the Wellington Cup on the first day.
