KAITOKE BRANCH. j The Kaitoke Women’s Institute held | another meeting on May 7, when Mrs : Pearson presided. There were 22 ladies i present, including two visitors from town. The meeting opened with the singing of the National 9nthem. The competition arranged for the afternoon —the most practical thing made out of waste material—brought forth a splendid number of entries, many wonderful and useful articles being displayed. Mrs Christmas was the winner and Mrs Pritchard second, the decision being made by the vote of the members. A splendid afternoon tea was supplied by the hostesses, Mr.-, Christmas and Mrs Bourne. An amusing competition. Nursery Rhymes” was won by Mrs Pritchard, Miss I. O’Shannassey being second. At the next meeting, which will be held on June, 4. Mr Murray Snr., will demonstrate glove making. Aramoho Branch The monthly meeting of the Aramoho Women’s Institute was held in St. Lawrence Hall and was largely attended, several new members being enrolled. A very interesting demonstration of mocassin making was given by Miss Dawes, assisted by Mrs Laird of "Westmere. A large number of ladies avail ed themselves of the opportunity of cutting and starting their mocassin, Ihe ladies being very grateful to /Miss Dawes and Mrs Laird for their mi- ' tiring efforts. j A dainty afternoon tea was then proj iluced anti thoroughly enjoyed by all, I the hostesses being Mrs Wells, Mrs J Bevegc. The meeting then closed with ’ a hearty vote of thanks, and the singing of the, National Anthem. The next | meeting will be held nn the 2nd Friday I in June, when a demonstration of raffia work will bo given.
