MOTORISTS’ INTERESTS
AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION ' ( ( NEW MEMBERS ENROLLED * 1 At a meeting of the Wanganui Auto- ■ mobile Association last night it was reported by the Roads Committee that signs had been erected at the Waitotara Bridge and at the new footpath at Virginia Lake. It was stated that 14 new members were enrolled last month. The question was asKed whether white mudguards were required for motor-cycles. It was pointed out that a by-law had just been enforced requiring that bicycle rear mudguards should be painted white. Mr F. J. Hill replied that it would not bo necessary; it was considered sufficient for motorcycles to be lilted with reflectors on the. rear mudguard. It was stated that the new regulation# for the re-registration and registration of motorists required them to fill in an application form without exception. At the same time they would be required to present their license, otherwise they would have to undergo another test. The reason for personal application was stated to be on account of it being necessary for the new form of the travellers’ license to be signed by the applicant and a duplicate sent to the City Council. A resolution was passed thanking Mrs .1. Jones, High Street, Marton, for the presentation of land on the corner of High Street and Pukepapa Road to the Marton Borough. Gratification w r as also expressed at her action in cutting down the trees on the land, thus making the corner safer for motorists. It was hoped that others would follow the example set by Mrs Jones.
