KING'S BIRTHDAY MATCHES MARTON TRIAL POSTPONED The trial match which was to have . taken place at Marton next. Saturday between a combined Taihapc and Rangitikei team ami one chosen from the Metropolitan Union has been abandoned as it would interfere with the progress of cup play in the unions outside Wanganui. Dr. Adams, president of the Wanganui Rugby Union, advised last night that the Union was endeavouring to arrange a trial match between Taihape and Rangitikei at Marton on May 27. This would enable the sole selector (Mr .1. 1). Crowley) to see the best talent from those respective unions in action preparatory to his selection of the teams to play Taranaki on June 3 next.
