General situation. — Au anti-cyclone still covers the Dominion. An intense low pressure area extends over the whole of Australia to the southern Tasman Bea. Forecast.—Winds: Variable at first in the north, otherwise northerly winds prevailing and freshening in and south of Cook Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Generally smooth to moderate, but later rising in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Tasman Sea. Moderate to strong northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with smooth to moderate but rising seas, western districts and showers developing in the western and southern wesern. districts and showers developing in the western and southern portion of the South Island. Mild temperatures.
