DEATH PENALTY
BURMESE REBELS SENTENCED Received Alay 10, 5.15 p.m. CALCUTTA, May 9. A special tribunal sitting at Pyapon sentenced 15 Burma rebels to death and 5G to life transportation on charges of waging war against the King, also conspiracy. Twenty-four were acquitted. The commissioner recommended those sentenced to transportation to mercy, as they expressed the opinion that strong intimidation had been used by tho rebel leaders toward tho rank and file, whose credulity and ignorance had been abominably exploited.
