PLAY IN ENGLAND COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP LONDON, May 8. Following arc the results of matches in the County championship:— In their match with Gloucester, Derby in their first innings made IOU (Parker took six wickets for 41), and in tho second 120 (Parker took eight for 50). Gloucester in their first innings made 112 (Worthing took lou£ for 25), and in their second lost six wickets for U’. Gloucester won by four wickets. Hampshire, playing Somerset, in their first innings made 339 (White took six for 84) and in the second had made 207 for tho loss of seven wickets before declaring. Somerset in their first made 329 (Case 131) and in the second lost nine wickets for 196. Hampshire won in the first innings. Friendly matches resulted as follows: M.C.C. drew with Surrey. In their first innings M.C.C. made 320 (Dawson 70, Hendren 107 not out) and in their second 97 for the loss of five wickets before declaring. Surrey in their first innings made 201 (Sandham 87; Peebles five for 51) and in the second 149 for tho loss of oue wicket (Hobbs 78 not out). Notts won by 301 runs in their game with Glamorgan. Nottingham in their first innings made 234 (Larwood 74) and in their second declared with three wickets down for 375 (Lilley 110, Voce 129, Walker 10 r not out). Glamorgan made 161 in their first innings and iu the second 147 (Larwood took eight wickets for 54, including the “hat trick. ”) Sussex won by six wickets against Cambridge University. ’Varsity iu their first innings made .181 (KempWelch 79) and in the second 172 (Langridge took seven for 32). Sussex in their first innings made 297 (Cook 9q not out) and in tbei r second lost four wickets for 57 runs. taudi 63: Macaulay took four wickets won by an innings and 92 runs. ’Varsity in their first innings made 213 (Pataudi 63; Macaulay took foru wickets for 48) and in their second 80 (Macaulay took six tor 26). Yorkshire made 385 in their first innings, Mitchell making 62.
