No Stamp on Receipts.
George Sherman was charged at the .Magistrate's Court yesterday with acknowledging a receipt for a debt of £2 Ils 7d from Bridget Cavanagh without affixing a 2d stamp, also acknowledging a debt of £3 from the same person without, affixing one 2d stamp. Defendant said that he did not have a stamp at the time, but said he would stamp the receipts later. When he asked for the receipts he did not get them. A fine of £2, with vests, was imposed on each charge.
