OLD CABMAN'S LAMENT
After driving a four-wheeler at Chislehurst, England, for over half a century, Mr Walter Tyrell, the last horse cabby in the district, is retiring. He says he has been beaten by the motors. “My old clients have gone, and the present generation don’t want horse cabs,” he remarked. Mr Tyrell frequently drove the late ex-Empress Eugenie during her residence at Chislehurst. She went in his cab to the memorial service at the local Roman Catholic church for the Prince Imperial, who was killed in the Zulu War.
