VIOLENCE IN INDIA

YOUNG BENGALIS’ ARRESTED. TIMTiEGIES ON PARADE GROUND. DELHI. Dec. 9. Five young Bengalis have been arrested at Dacca in connection, it is understood, with the murder of Captain Simpson. The two assailants who shot themselvcs during yesterday’s outrage are in a critical condition. Captain Simpson was buried with military honours this afternoon. Captain McClenaghan was shot dead on parade this morning by Gurraj, an Indian lance-corporal of the Punjab Regiment, stationed at Lahore. It appears that Captain McClenaghan refused to pass Gurraj in a test while the latter was commanding a squad, replacing him with a sergeant. Enraged at the supercession. Gurraj shot dead the sergeant and then Captain McClenaghan. Troops on parade fired at Gurraj. but missed, and Gurraj turned the rifle on himself, committing suicide.
