VATICAN COINAGE
DESIGNS APPROVED LEGAL TENDER IN ITALY VATICAN CITY, Dec. 3. The Pope has approved the designs of the Vatican special coinage. The 100 lira gold piece worth approximately £1 2s will bear the effigy of the Tope and the 50 lira goldpiece will represent the Virgin Mary. Other gold coins have, images inscribed of a sacrod character.
A special series of 10,000 coins will be minted and placed on sale for collectors. The coins will be legal tender throughout Italy.
