ADDINGTON PRICES IRREGULAR N. ISLAND CATTLE SELL WELL [Per Press Association.J CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 3. Features of the weekly market at Addington to-day were declines in the prices for fat cattle, store sheep, and fat pigs and an increase in the values being paid for fat sheep. Further, it was the first sale of the season at which the freezing works buyer has operated for export, and the first sale which included store lambs. Store Sheep.—The. entry was not as big as at the last sale. The market was a very dull one, and prices recorded a decline of Is up to Is 6d a head in many cases. There wore several lines entered from Blenheim and the Chatham Islands. Values were: Good four and six-tooth Romney wethers to 15s 3d; medium sorts, 12s to 13s; ordinary sorts to 10s; medium to good four and six-tooth half bred wethers, Jis 6d to 12s 6d; ordinary and small sorts, 7s to 9s; backward sorts, to 6s; good ewes and lambs, to 14s; ordinary sorts to 7s 9d; two, four, six and eight-tooth crossbred ewes to 10s 7d; ordinary sixtooth halfbred ewes to 9s; ordinary four, six and cighttooth Romney cross ewes, to 10s 9d; wether hoggets to 12s lOd; store lambs to 10s lOd. Fat Lambs.—The entry was BSO head, as compared with 460 at the last sale. The operations of one freezing buyer for export had a steadying effect, on the market. There was little change on the basis of values ruling last week, and the price per lb. varied from 73d to Bd, and in odd cases up to Bd. Values wore: Extra prime lambs to 27s 4d; prime lambs 23s to 25s 6d; medium lambs 20s to 22s 6d; light lambs 17s to 19s 6d. Fat Sheep Firmer Fat. Sheep.—The entry numbered 3300 head, as compared with 4100 at last market. The sale was a spirited one in parts owing to the shortness of the entry, and prices were firmer by Is a head for wethers and up 2s a head for ewes. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers 24s to 27s 6d; medium weight prime wethers 20s to 23s 61; second quality wethers 16s to 19s 6d; inferior wethers 12s 6(1 tn 15s; extra prime ewes to 22s JOd; prime ewes 20s to 225; medium ewes 17s to 19s Gd; light ewes 13s 6d to ]6s; aged and inferior ewes Ils 6d to 13s; best woolly ewes to 225.

North Island Cattle Sell Well. Fat Cattle.—The entry was 430 head as compared with 325 head last week. The sale was dull and the general quality below the average. There was one line of 41 steers penned from Palmerston North, and also one line from Otago. Values were down by £1 and up to £1 10s a head over the whole sale, and rather less on the North Island consignment which sold well, and averaged £l9 10s a head. Bost mediumweight beef made from 41s to 45s Gd per 1001 b.; heavy beef made from 33s to 375; cow beef from 34s to 38s; secondary beef, from 28s 6d to 335; and rough, down to 245. Values were: Heavy steers to £l6 7s 6d; prime heavy steers £l7 10s to £l9 10s; prime medium weight steers £l4 to £l7; medium qual•yt steers, £ll to £l3 IDs; light steers £7 10s to £10; extra prime heifers to £l6 2s 6d; prime heifers £ll to £l3 10s; medium heifers £8 to £8 10s; light heifers £5 10s to £7 10s; extra prime cows to £l4 12s 6d; prime cows £lo'los ro £l3; medium cows £7 10s to £10; light, and aged cows £5 to £7.

Vealers.—The entry was a very heavy one, and the quality was very mixed. Prices all round were from 5s to 6s a head lower, and all but the best sorts were hard to sell. Values were: Best vealers 50s to 655; good sorts 30s to 455; medium 22s to 28s; small and inferior ]o s to 20s; runners, to £7 3s fid. Store Cattle.—There was a big yarding. consisting chiefly of a few pons of good coloured steers, and some linos of cows. The market was dull, and fully half the yarding was passed. A pen of good-coloured 20-months to two-year Shorthorn steers made £B, and a pen of younger Shorthorns was passed nt £7 5s 9d. Another line of rough steers, three and four-yoar-o 11 sold at £7 2s fid, and one of yearling Jersey heifers nt. £3O. There wore a few cows sold. The yarding of bulls was a full one, and late rates were maintained, the top price being £7 ss. Dairy Cattle—There wore 71 head penned, including several attractive lines of heifers. The quality of the cows was average only. The sale opened with a noticeable decrease on the values ruling at last sale, but as it progressed there was a gradual firming until at the end last week’s rates were ruling again. Values were: Good second and third calvors £8 to £10; medium second and third calvors £fi 10s to £7 15s; aged and inferior £2 10s to £5; good heifers £9 to £11; medium heifers £7 to £8; backward heifers £4 10s to £fi.

Fat Pigs.—There was only a modi a yarding, but porkers wore in oversupply, and the proportion of choppers was smaller than usual. Pigs of all classes wore easier than at last week’s market, the heaviest decline being for porkers. Values were: Choppers, £3 10s to £6 6s 6d; haconors £3 to £3 8s 6d; heavy baconers £3 15s to £1; extra heavy baconers £4 8s 6d to £4 12s 6d; average price per lb., 5Jd to fild; porkers 38s fid to 47s fid; heavy porkers 50s to 57s 6d; average price, per lb fi.ld to 7}d. Store Pigs.—The entry was a little

smaller than last week’s. The sale again was a keen one, and lat<» rates were fully maintained. Values were: Large stores to 41 s; small stores 33s +o 365; wcaners 24s to 28; slips 29s to 325.
