She is scheduled to leave there again on December 10 for Honolulu, Suva, Auckland, and Sydney, and is due back at Auckland on December 29. THE MAUI POMARE. The Government motor ship Maui Pomare was due at Dunedin on Wednesday night from Niue and Apia. She was to leave there again yesterday for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland to complete discharge of her fruit cargo, and is due at Wellington on Saturday. THE lONIC The Shaw, Savill liner lonic was to have left London on Wednesday and is scheduled to clear Southampton to-day for Auckland and Wellington. She is due at Auckland on January 10. PORT HUON’S DUE DATES The C. & D. Line advise that their motorship Pori Huon, en route from London, is due at Auckland on December 12, and at Wellington on December 19. OTOKIA LEAVES SAN PEDRO. The Union Company has received cabled advice that their motor-tanker Otokia cleared San Pedro on Monday morning with bulk fuel-oil for Wellington. She is due at Wellington on December 25. TARANAKI LEAVES LONDON. The Shaw, Savill motor-ship Taranaki left London on November 28 with cargo for discharge at Suva, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, and Timaru. She is due at Suva on December 31, and at Port Chalmers on January 8. THE CANADIAN HIGHLANDER. Canadian National Steamships have received cabled advice that the Canadian Highlander cleared Colon on November 2 for New York, Boston and Halifax. GOLDEN CROSS LEAVES LOS ANGELES. The O. & O. Line steamer Golden Cross is repelled to have cleared Los Angeles on Monday with Pacific Coast cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, ’ 4 and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on December 27 and Wellington about a week later. THE NARBADA. The Union Company advise that the Narbada was expected to clear Calcutta early this week for Penang, Singapore, and Samarang, to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff. BRUNSWICK LEAVES SAN PEDRO. The Atlantic Union Oil Company's Diesel electric tanker Brunswick is reported to have cleared San Pedro on Saturday with bulk motor spirit for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. She is due at Auckland on December 22 and Wellington about December 26. PACKAGES FROM AUSTRALIA. On and after December 1 every article or package of a gross weight of one ton or over, intended for shipment from Australian ports, must have its weight clearly and distinctly marked thereon. A regulation has been issued under the Navigation Act, setting out that evex-y package or article of a gross weight of one metric ton (22051 b. oxover, before being loaded on any oversea or inter-State vessel at any Commonwealth port shall have prominently marked upon it, or upon a label securely attached to it, in legible and durable characters of not less than one inch in height, a statement of its approximate gross weight, in tons and hundredweights. Where it is not practicable to weigh, by reason of their nature or place of shipment, such articles as logs, baulks of timber, or other articles which are of a weight of over 22051 b., the gross weight may be stated approximately within a limit of one ton as "Over 1 Ton but under 2 Tons,” or, as the case may be.

A silver plate affixed on the starboara side of the motor that propels the Norwegian tanker Ima, recently at Lyttelton, bears the following inscription: "This 300 horsepower motor was in full-power trial on the test bed in the works of the builders, William Doxford and Son, Ltd., Sutherland, July 3, 1930. in the presence of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, and a distinguished company of British and Norwegian visitors.’’ In the centre of the top of the plate is engraved the Prince of Wales’ coat of arms. The plate is prized by the officers and men of the ship's company. The ship, which was launched early in August, is on her maiden voyage.
