CHOIR CONCERT
ST. DAVID’S CHURCH
A very enjoyable concert of a high standard was held in St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Upper Aramoho, on Tuesday evening, Dec. 2, the various items receiving well-merited applause. The church choir rendered’ several sacred anthems, including “Hark, Hark My Soul,” a •well-known anthem with effective contralto and soprano solos, which were artistically sung by Mesdames Walker and Hewetson rdjectively. The anthem “Incline Thine Ear,” with bass solo, was also well rendered, the solo work being taken by Mr Hewetson, who did full justice to this number. Other numbers were also given by the choir, which were deserving of commendation for the splendid work performed in this small parish. Other items were vocal solos by Misses Kendrich and Hall, whose items were most enthusiastically encored. Mrs Darbyshire, in her elocutionary items gave great pleasure, and was deservedly encored, as was also violin solos, and with Mrs R. Tizard Mrs H. J. Trussell, who contributed rendered a pianoforte duct which was duly encored, Mrs R. Tizard responding with a pianoforte solo. Vocal solos by Messrs Hewetson and R. Tizard were also well sung, and encore being demanded. Pleasing vocal duets wore sung by Misses Wadman and Good, and Misses Wadman and Benbrook. Mrs R. Tizard was official accompanist for the evening. The singing of the National Anthem brought to a close a thoroughly enjoyable evening’s entertainment. The assisting artists were afte: wards entertained to supper by the choir members.
