OLD MAN’S DEATH
LEVEL CROSSING SMASH FATALITY AT PALMERSTON NORTH [Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., Dec. 2. Struck by the south bound New Plymouth express when passing over Victoria Street level crossing •in a cart, John Carian, aged 85, a fishmonger, was killed instantaneously. The force of the impact carried deceased over 100 yards. Tho cart was smashed to atoms and strewn along the track. The horse escaped with a few cuts.
Deceased, who was slightly deaf, experienced trouble with the burse at the crossing. He leaves a widow and seven of a family.
