AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMS REVENUE
I—IIGH customs revenue taxation was imposed to curtail imports into Australia. That and the absence of money to make overseas purchases has brought about the desired results. That is the trouble with a customs tariff. When conditions are bad the Government’s revenue falls down at the very time that the Government needs more money.
