FROM THE LOG:— DREDGE MAWHERA. Tffe dredge Mawhero, from Greymouth, is at present at Wellington for overhaul. She will go on the patent slip. KUROW FROM AUSTRALIA. The Kurow, with cargo from Devonport (Tasmania), Adelaide, and Melbourne, is due at Auckland at 5 a.m. to-day. She will later proceed to New Plymouth, Tarakohe, Wellington, and Lyttelton. TURAKINA’S MOVEMENTS. The Federal liner Turakina, at present discharging at Wellington, is expected to leave for Lyttelton this evening. She will commence her homeward loading at Port Chalmers on December 6, sailing finally from Auckland on December 30 for London, via TanTIU: MELBOURNE MARU. The Japanese steamer Melbourne Maru was due to arrive at Wellington yesterday morning from Melbourne in continuation of her voyage from Japan and other Eastern ports. From Wellington she proceeds to Auckland to discharge cargo, and will then proceed back to Melbourne. PORT NICHOLSON FOR LONDON. Having completed her homeward loading, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Nicholson is scheduled to leave Auckland this evening for London, via Panama. PORT HUNTER DUE TO-DAY. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Hunter was scheduled to leave Auckland on Monday evening for Wellington, where she is expected to-day. The vessel will later proceed to Lyttelton and Dunedin to continue her discharging. •iAHIA’S MOVEMENTS. The Shaw. Savill Company report that their steamer Mahia expected to clear Wellington at 3 p.m. yesterday for Napier in continuation of her homoward loading. She will then proceed to Auckland, and will sail from there on December 10 for London and West Coast ports, via Panama. RANGITANE FOR HOME. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor liner Rangitane is timed to leave Auckland at noon on Saturday for Southampton and London, via Panama. TONGARIRO LOADING. In continuation of her Homeward loading, the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Tongariro was scheduled to leave Bluff on Friday night for Port Chalmers. She will later proceed to Lyttelton. New Plymouth, Wellington, Napier and Auckland. TISNAREN LEAVES SAN FRANCISCO. Spedding Limited, have received advice that the Swedish motor ship Tisnaren, running under the auspices of the General Steamship Corporation, was dispatched from San Francisco last Monday with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Bluff, and Australia. She is scheduled to reach Auckland on December 15. AORANGI’S SMART RUN. An arrival at Auckland on Sunday morning was the Union Company's Royal mail liner Aorangi from Vancouver, via Honolulu and Suva. The vessel cleared the Canadian port on November 12, and encountered strong westerlies and high head seas for four days. The average speed to Honolulu was 16.4 knots and from there to Suva 16.92 knots. Suva was left on Thursday afternoon, and the vessel made a particularly fast run to Auckland, the average speed being 16.84 knots. On arrival the liner berthed at the Prince's wharf to land passengers, mail and cargo. The Aorangi is announced to continue her voyage to Sydney at 10 o’clock to-night.

PORT HUNTER’S SPEED. Twenty-five days from New York was the fast time registered by the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Hunter (Captain W. G. Higgs), which arrived at Auckland on Sunday afternoon. The vessel was recently converted into an oil burner, and her turbine machinery was reconditioned at Newcastle-on-Tyne, with the result that two knots have been added to her speed. On her present voyage the Port Hunter cleared New York on November 3. and passed through the Panama Canal on November 9, average weather being experienced on the run across the Pacific. The steamer sailed from the Prince’s wharf at 5 p.m. yesterday for southern ports to complete discharge (Heather, Roberton. Ltd., agents).
