COMMONWEALTH FIGURES LOW BIRTH AND DEATH RATE Received Dee. 1. 11.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 1. The Commonwealth statistician reports that the birthrate for Australia in 1929 was the lowest on record, namely 20.31 per thousand of the population. The death rate also was very low, and the rate of natural increase by excess of births over deaths was equalled in very few countries.
