SYDNEY MEAT DISPUTE
STRIKERS ATTACK BARRACKS SYDNEY, Dee. 1. An attempt to wreck the barracks occupied by master butchers at Aberdeen who were killing stock for the Sydney trade, was made by about 30 men. They maintained a fusiladc of missiles, throwing until scattered by the police, who fired over the heads of the attackers.
Large quantities of blue metal were hurled through doorways and windows of the barracks, where there were 54 butchers.
A wild scatter took place when the police, who were also living on the premises, brought their revolvers into play. Additional police have been rushed to Aberdeen, where all is now quiet.
NEW EFFORT TO SETTLE. Received Dec. 1, 9.10 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 1. A conference of parties to the moat dispute agreed to refer the strike issue once again to an industrial commission. over which Judge I’iddington presided, in the hope of reaching a settlement.
