“RAISE THE ROOF.”
Betty Balfour, England’s most popular movie star, is featured in her first singing and dancing picture, “Raise the Roof,” which will open at the Civic Theatre. Marton, on Saturday afternoon and evening with the final evening on Monday evening. The rogramme is a hundred per cent, one, including the supports —comedy ‘‘Raw Recruit,’’ and musical, “Jazz Time.’ and “Black and White.” There are daring costumes and exquisite ballets in the star picture, in which Betty Balfour is • supported by Maurice Evans and Jack Raine. A matinee will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2.30. JUNIOR REFORM LEAGUE. The committee and members actively associated with the recent inaugural function of the Junior Reform League met on Wednesday evening, Mr A. R. Gibson presiding. Messr A. Stuart and A. Wav were also present. The ’reports of the recent function disclosed a substantial credit balance, which was most gratifying. The treasurer reported that the financial membership was now 72 active and three associate. It was decided to open a Savings Bank account, and trustees were appointed to operate.
