DUSTIN FOURS TROPHY
CLAY WINS FROM LINSSEN By defeating Linsscn yesterday in the second round of the AVanganui Rowing Club’s Dustin Fours, Clay qualifies to row Grover in the semi-final this afternoon at 5.30. A keen wind and swift current were the conditions for the race while the water was good. Linsscn, on the inside course, placed himself half a length ahead soon after the start but Clay, with greater driving force, soon made up this leeway and was loading by a canvas at the Dublin Street Bridge. This lead he increased to half a length at the Plymouth Street intersection and a length at Guyton Street. At this point No 2in Linsscn’s boat had the misfortune to catch a crab and this placed the issue beyond doubt The crews were as follows: Clay (str), S. Reid. Afaciver, Peek-
Linsscn (str), Cleland, Turnbull Arnold*
