General situation. —The main portion of the depression crossed the Dominion yesterday morning, but a slight secondary followed it in the evening. Barometers have risen over eastern Australia. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong westerlies backin', later to southerlies; gale force probable in places. Seas (N.Z. waters); Rough on the west coast and later rising south of Castle Point. Tasman Sea: Strong south-westerly winds t< gales and rough to heavy seas in the eastern Tasman. Weather: Still unsettled and at times showjery; fu rt he heavy falls in places. Temperatures becoming colder.
