OPENING DAY’S RESULTS CELERITY 11. WINS CUP. SPRINT TO CATERPILLAR. [Per Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, Nov. 19. The Winton Jockey Club’s meeting opened to-day in fine but dull weather. Just before the Flying Handicap heavy rain set in and continued for the rest of the day. The track was holding for the first few races but the programme was concluded with it in a very heavy state and prospects for to-morrow are not good. In the Trial Stakes Night Lark fell and Trooper North went over him. S. Gerrand, the Wairarapa apprentice, rider of the former, suffered concussion and although he soon recovered was

not permitted to fulfil any other engagements. V. Langford suffered a strained ihoulder when Battle Fleet fell in th** Steeplechase. F. Langford had his ihoulder put out.
