DO-X CONTINUES FLIGHT
PASSENGER LEFT BEHIND THE WEATHER FOGGY LONDON, Nov. 14. The Dornier Do.X took off for Bordeaux on another stage of the Atlantic flight, after several unsuccessful attempts to rise.
Lady Drummond Hay was left behind, apparently losing direction in the fog. The commander decided to wait for five minutes, but she did not appear. Then the flag was dropped, the
engines started, and the machine taxied out into open water.
Another passenger, the noted test pilot, Captain Baird, nearly missed the Do.X. He chased it in a motor launch and jumped on to a float and disappeared through the main door as the Do.X headed for the taking-off point. ARRIVAL IN FRANCE Received Nov. 15, 7.30 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 15. The Dornier Do.X alighted on the sea near Sables, Dolonnc,’looo miles from Bordeaux, and proceeded to land under her own power, and moored at La Rochelle.
It is understood that the Dornier Do.X did not attempt to reach Bordeaux, owing to a heavy fog, but taxied safely for 50 miles to Gironde.
