General situation. —A deep depresssion now covers the Tasman Sea, the centre line being near to the south-west extremity of New Zealand. Barometers are rising over eastern Australia. Forecast—Winds: {Strong northerly winds to gales, backing later to west and south-west in the far south. Seas (N.Z. waters’): Rather rough generally. Tasman Sea: Strong northerly winds in the eastern Tasman, backing to west and south-west in about 24 hours; seas rough. Weather: Becoming unsettled generally with some rain; temperatures mild, but becoming cooler in the far south. Unsettled weather probable during the week-end.
