WEEK-END ACCIDENTS
MISHAP ON CRICKET FIELD INJURED PLAYER LOSES EYE 1 Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Nov. 2. Severe facial injuries, which later necessitated the .emoval of an eye, were received by Ralph Burton, aged 34. of Mount Roskill, while playing for Ellerslie senior cricket team on Saturday. Burton was fielding, when he was struck by a ball between the left eye and nose. The nose was broken and 8 deep cut over the eye inflitaed. Burton was removed to hospital where it was found necessary to remove the eye. He is well known in cricket circles.
MAN DIES ON ROAD. STRUCK Bl' PASSING MOTOR. I Per Press Association. J GISBORNE, Nov. 2. Shortly before 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, a man named David Clark, a roadman in the employ of the Cook County Council, was found fatally injured on the bitumen road at Makarake, about four miles from Gisborne. A nearby farmer heard a crash aua went out and found Clark, who was unconscious and died soon after. Clark was apparently struck from behind by an unknown motorist. Clark was 67 years of age and was born in Scotland. He is believed to have no relatives in the Dominion.
