Mr McKenzie suitably responded SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS During the past three years a great number of improvements have been effected at the Bulls School, which is now a thoroughly up-to-date one, and situat cd in very beautiful surroundings- The Wanganui Education Board has recognised the good work done, granting ar environment certificate. The Education Board and the school committee have jointly expended over £BOO in permanent improvements in the school and grounds during the period mentioned. An electric pumping plant has been installed, providing a plentiful supply of water. An electric cooking range bns been added in tho cookery room, and a chimney has been installed. Two bicycle sheds have been provided. A new fence erected in the front, and also fences at the rear of the grounds. The old latrines have been replaced with a range of modern sanitary conveniences. What was once a blackberry patch, is now laid down in lawns, with shrubs planted here and there. The old clay patch between the two school houses is now o concreted play area, and is used for tennis and basket-ball. Concrete paths have been laid down in all directions, and are a great improvement on rhe muddy paths of past years. The gardens and lawns have grown almost too extensive for the teachers and pupils to cope with and at the last meeting the committee decided to engage help in keeping the grounds in order. The work carried out has been made possible by the co-operation of the Board, the school committee and the teachers, scholars, parents and well-wishers of the school. Townspeople as well as teachers and pupils can be well proud of the local “House of Learning,” fondly referred to as “Our School,’•’ and it is pleasing to know that the committee is still proceeding with tho scheme of improvements.
