BULLER RETAIN TROPHY [ Per Press Association. ] WESTPORT, Sept. 13. On Victoria Square, in the presence of a large gathering of spectators in beautifully fine weather, Buller retained the Seddon Shield against the Nelson challengers, winning by 21 points to 8. Nelson had the advantage of the sun and a very slight breeze in the first spell and led at half-time by 5 to 4, Fowler scoring a beautiful try for Nelson, which Reed converted, and Gilbert kicking a potted goal for Buller. Buller were making it a hard forward game while Nelson were indulging in _ ..ssing attacks among the backs. In the second spell Gilbert (with a penalty kick, gave Buller the lead, Greer and Connolly adding tries and making the score: Buller 13; Nelson 5.
