AUSTRALIA’S INVITATION
ATTITUDE OF U.S.A. PREPARING DEFINITE POLICE. Received Sept. 14. 7.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 13. At Forest Hills the Australian Association representative interviewed Mr Daily, president of the United States Lawn Tennis Association, who replied: “While we plan to circularise the executive committee by letter in ortfer to ensure a prompt decision on thp Australian invitation to send a
team for an approximate Christmas visit, the Association ig faced with the larger problem of a definite policy for expeditions abroad. We dare not sacrifice young men whose college terms or business engagements should keep them at home in the interests of international competition. We receive many invitations and wo must ponder a method by which we can encourage international exchange without jeopard ising the careers of rising young players, particularly in tbeir formative year. We have therefore created the International Committee, which during October, will make definite recommendations for a basic policy.” Mr Daily would not indicate whether personally he favoured accept nnce of the /ustrnlinn invitation.
