For Tattcrsall’s races yesterday there w'as a large attendance and fine weather, but a blustery hot westerly. New Zealand horses won the last two events. Nightmarch was second in the chief event. ' Tramway Handicap (Seven furlongs) Killarney, 9.1, McCarten .. ..... 1 Fuji San 9.7, Matthews * Porneit 6.7, Carter - * *Dcad heat for second. Twenty-three started. Toni Pinch set the pace most of the way to lhe straight and then tired. Fuji San crept up on the rails, and was half a length behind Killarney at the finishing post, with Tom Pinch fourth. Time 1.255. Chelmsford Stakes (Nine furlongs.) PHAR LAP 9.4, Pike 1 NIGHTMARCH 9.11, R. Roe' 2 WEOTARA 7.6, Simpson 3 All started. Burracootboo led the field to the straight, but Phar Lap kept in a handy position and at the distance simply walked past, to beat Nightmarch by two and a-half lengths; with third horse half a length away. Time 1.515. Spring Handicap (1J miles.) PAQUITO 9.2, McCarten 1 GAY CREST 7.12, Humphries 2 JOHN BUCHAN 7.11, Johnstone 3 Twenty-one started. Paquito won by a neck, with third horse three longtha back. Papatu was fourth. Time 2.43. Welter Handicap (One mil*.) Sargon 7.9, K. Voitre 1 Potcn 7.12, White —.— 2 First Sight 10.3, McCarten 3 Nineteen started. Length and a-half. Time 1.395.
