Surprise Visit from “Jack the Dog”

The Kennel,

Dear Wendy,—Bow wow! wow! Yes, it’s ma again! I don’t seem to write often but there'll other members of the Animal kingdom who seem to never write. Dear old “Hasbeen” and “Jumbo” do wake up. I spects they’re a bit tired after their adventure with the Witch. ‘‘Cow.” with the crumpled horn, certainly did a “stunt” when She tossed the Old Witch over the moon, bhe spinned (or should I say spun) like a penny. “Moon Man,” don’t let her come down to us again, please. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 2000th member. He, or she, is not far off now Get to work, our C.W.K. I’ll give yoG an extra hearty wag of my tail if you are the cause iho lueky ite’s enrollment. I started the Animal Kingdom, and “Old Liz" i s waiting so patiently for some engines or vehicles to keep her company. My mistress says I get naughtier every day. I'm trying (but simply can t do it) to keep in step with her. I have to watch her awfully close now.

11l be relieved when she turns from Silly Sixteen to Sweet Seventeen. Can you imagine her ' riding her brother’s motor-bike or dressed in his territorial uniform ? The other day I felt awfully lonely and went inside to see if she was ready for a romp or walk. She was reading your pages and “wasn’t having any.” The day the boys went to Feilding races she and I got the cows in. . She has simply to call out “Go way for it. Jack,” and atl I have to do ii bark and they come. If they don’t they know they’ll have me to answer to. Of course, it’s new for my mistress to get the herd in. She never does. Enough boys for that. Yarding up is an interesting process. She opens the gates and perches on the rails (to advertise the fact that she is “Cows” of a two-legged, tailless and hornless species). After eyeing her curiously, her four-legged “sisters” go into the yards. Well. I haven’t written you a very interesting letter, but poor as it is I must bring it to a close. Bow wow!
