AIRMEN SEES WRECK
LYING UNDER SEA IS IT THE WARATAH? LONDON, May 15. The Daily Express publishes a remarkable story from Capetown concerning an airman’s story which, if true, may explain the mystery of the lost Waratah. Ho says that two miles off Peddie, near the Port of East London, a great ledge of rock runs out under the sea on which lies a wrecked ship. It is plainly visible on calm days when the sunlight strikes the water at a certain angle. The Waratah, a new ship, was on her first voyage to England from Australia, when after leaving Durban she was never heard of again. At the time it was thought that she had foundered in a rough sea.
