RUSSIA’S NEED OF WOOL

FIELD FOR NEW ZEALAND. [ Per Prct.l Association. 1 AUCKLAND, Alay 2. Groat industrial activity continues to be shown in France and Germany, according to Air B. Goodman, of Auckland, who recently returned from an extended tour abroad. “The resumption of diplomatic and trade relations with Russia was one of the wise steps taken by the Labour Government” Air Goodman said. “The extremist Bolshevik regime’is on the wane in Russia. Tho people are finding that they have been on tho wrong track and they are now reverting to established principles of trade. Foodstuffs are cheap in Russia and all reports of famine are grossly exaggerated. However, there is a clothing famine. Woollen garments arc two or throe times as dear as they arc in England, and even then they contain very little wool. “Russia is a country where no great competition can be felt, from such fabrics as artificial silk. Russia wants wool, and tho resumption is trade relations opens up a new field, especially for New Zealand wool. Poland, too, with its population of 35,000,000, is crying for wool, and it only needs the finances of the country to be placed on a sound footing for it to become a customer for New Zealand. Alorc settled conditions in Eastern Europe will undoubtedly mean a greater demand for wool and a corresponding improvement in prices. ”
