Forced Down
SMITH AND SKIERS’ FLIGHT
ATTEMPT MAY BE ABANDONED (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright] Received April 27, 5.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, April 27. A message from Bangkok states that Messrs D. Smith and H. W. Shiers’ ’plane was forced down in rough country 30 mile s from the Siamese capital. The men were unhurt, but a wing of the machine was broken and the flight may be abandoned.
The ’plane was unable to take off fully loaded from Singora on the Malay east coast, owing to aerodrome’s limited space. It therefore had to start with a minimum load, which proved insufficient to reach Bangkok.
