This new Mctro-Goldwyn-Mayor production isn’t a prize fight story, but a comedy drama of Hollywood, showing the lives of its people away from the studios. Haines plays a soda clerk with a correspondence school complex and an ambition to join the Elks and Josephine Dunn, whom Cruze directed with Haines in “Excess Baggage,” plays the heroine. The cast includes Sam Hardy, Mae Busch and others of note.

Olsen, presented to the meeting of householders on April 14, stated inter alia: The past year has been the most successful since I took charge. The roll number is being steadily maintained and the attendance has been most satisfactory. The pupils attended the Anzac service wnich was a most impressive gathering. The annual picnic at Moana Roa was most successful, and thanks are due to those who provided motor transit at a low cost. A visit to Massey College had been of immense value in science work at the school. Scripture lessons were commenced by Messrs Stewart and White in March, and the attendance had been very fair. During the year the interior of the woodwork room was painted white, thus improving the lighting. An electric pump had been installed to provide water necessary there. In the spring new shrubs were planted in the grounds and those planted two years ago had come on well. The school committee had been generous in financing this work and the Board had warmly commended the school for its beautiful grounds. A series of euchre parties was held during the winter but did not take on as well as they might. The children’s ball was a great success, and resulted in a net profit of over £5O. The school concert was also a financial and artistic success and credit is due to the talented pupils and to Miss Henderson and others who were responsible for their training. In July Dr. Gunn visited the school and examined the children. Notices re defects were sent to parents, but it was regretted that little notice was taken of the doctor’s recommendations. The reports of the Department’s inspectors on work seen during their visits were very satisfactory, their efficiency mark being “Good.” At the proficiency examination 19 pupils were presented, 15 gaining proficiency certificates and four competency certificates. The report concluded with thanks to the parents,

school committee and teaching staff for their courtesy, assistance and loyalty during the year. SCHOOL COMMITTEES Glyneath The following members were elected Messrs A. W. Amon, W. J. Guy, T. Field, G. Langdon and J. Dunford. Chairman and secretary are to be appointed at the irfst committee meeting.
