A FLAG INCIDENT
SCENE IN WEISSENTHURN COLOGNE, Dec. 5. Following the evacuation of the second zone the inhabitants of Weissenthurn were incensed to find the French flag flying on the memorial of General Hoche' the caretaker of which declined ‘to haul down the Tricolour when the burgomaster requested, maintaining that the memorial stood on French soil. The burgomaster withdrew to consult a higher authority. Meanwhile the villagers sawed down the mast. .
