FIRE AT PETONE

TWO HOUSES BURNT [ Per Prew Associate . J WELLINGTON, Dee. 5. Two la-ga wooden houses and their contents in Victoria Street, Petons. K were totallv destroyed by fire at 11.30 > last night. A blustering wind was blowing and to this being added the shockingly poor water pressure, the brigade had an exceedingly difficult task to stop the further spread of the flames, the fight continuing for three hours. The house of the origin of the fire was occupied by Mrs Patrick Quinn and family. It was insured for £l5O in the Royal Exchange and £B5O in the State. The other house was owned by Airs King and ocupied by her and Mrs Archer and family. It was insured for £5OO on the State. Airs Quinn’s furniture was insured for £490 in the London and Lancashire.
