LIONS AT PLAY
REMARKABLE KENYA SCENE NAIROBI, Oct. 1. Considerable excitement has been caused locally during the past few days by a herd of about twenty lions which were seen by numbers of motorists when they invaded one of the main roads about fifteen miles from Nairobi. The great beasts caused neither damage nor harm, but playfully gambolled on the road and in the vicinity. During the week-end many cars proceeded to the scene so that the occupant® might watch the antics of the animals from a safe distance. At one period there were nearly a hundred cars pro* sent and many cameras were clicking. There were no casualties, but a band of natives who attempted to do & little hunting with spears became surrounded, and the position was ugly until the motorists came to the rescue by driving in all directions and scattering the beasts.
