"TAFFY" ATTENDS "BIG BROTHER'S” PARTY

Dear Wendy,—lt gives me great pleasure in writing you this letter. 1 was invited to “Big Brother’s” birthday party, and 1 can tell you I was greatly honoured. There were about thirty of us at the party, and we all spent a very enjoyable evening. Among those present were "The Hut's Bachelor” (a hard nut). "The Hut’s Mascot," "A Weary Wanderer,” “Rosebud Fairy,” "Ichabod,” “Phantasy,” “Windy Whispers,” “White Forget-me‘ not,” "White Forget-me-not's Darling,” “Medium Brother,” “Big Brother’s Pal,” “Miss MacGinty,” “Princess Marguerite,” and last, but not least, “Big Brother.” “Big Brother” received many nice presents, and he was the star performer of the party. I always thought “Big Brother” was shy, but, my word, I have changed my opinion now. He is a regular trick. In the gaily decorated dining-room there was a large table covered with oh, so many nice eatables, with a lovely birthday cake in the centre. Well, when the call came for tea we all escorted our young ladies to the table, but, alas! we could not make any impression on the eatables. There was far too much for our small appetites, and, of course, we Wendyites did so much talking that we had not much time to eat. I was sitting next to “The Hut’s Mascot.” She is a nice girl, and you could not find a better mascot anywhere. There was only one thing missing. Wendy, and that was you. Oh, how I wish you could have been there. 1 see your birthday will be here shortly, and I hope you will have a jolly good time. Ah, now I think of it. 1 luu I, thank you very much for your kind greetings. Well, dear Wendy, once again I failed to keep my appointment. and I am so sorry that “White Forget-me-not” had such a long wait. I am so glad that I have at last met "Big Brother.” “Medium Brother” and many other Wendyite 3 . This is the first birthday party I have ever been to, and I shall never forget it. 1 shall be pleased to meet “Patti Corelli.’ Will you please ask him to make ».r> • rra ments he likes. I shall not fail him. Tht reason why I could not keep my appointment last Saturday was because I went down to Levin and missed the first train home. I will now close. Best love to you and all the Wendyites.—Sincerely yours, “TAFFY,” Wanganui. How pleased I am to hear that you attended our “Big Brother's” birthday party and spent such a lovely time among all our members there. How lucky “Big Brother” was to receive so many presents. He must have been awfully happy. Dear me, I am afraid I should not have been able to make very much of an impression upon all th~ good things to eat, also. My help would have been very small. Many thanks for your kind wishes for my birthday. , It is quite close now, isn’t it? I will teil “Patti Corelli.” I know just how pleased she will be to receive your message^-—Wendy»
