NEW GOVERNMENT BUILDING
WHITEHALL EXTENSION PLAN [ British Official Wireless ] RUGBY, Nov. 29. Plans to erect new Government buildings in Whitehall are under contemplation. It is intended that the building will .be on lines designed to add to the dignity of the famous street of Government offices, and although the cost will be great, it is contended that there will be a saving because staffs at present distributed over London will be housed together. The buildings will be on the river side of Whitehall, and will extend from the Cenotaph to a point opposite the Horseguards’ Parade. The scheme will involve the demolition of Montague House, the famous old home of the Dukes of Buccleuch, which now houses the Ministry of Labour.
