A NARROW ESCAPE
WOMAN NEARLY DROWNED. (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, Nov. 14. A young woman named Miss Calder, a nurse had a narrow escape from drowning while swimming at St. Clair Beach, JOO yards out. She was scon to throw her arms up, signalling for help. Richard Coxoij swam out and got hold of the young woman, but could make no headway against the undertow. Ivan Turnbull swam to their assistance with a life-line against a strong current and the three got ashore exhausted. Miss Calder on recovering said she would have drowned but for the youths’ promptness and courage.
