COMMITTEE BUSINESS OFFICIALS APPOINTED The Wanganui Agricultural Association met yesterday, Mr Donald Ross occupying the chair. There were also present Messrs F. Spencer, R Williams, Nicholson, J. B. Hogg, Dickie, R. W. Green, J. Patterson, J. Hodges, J. Robb, N. Hughes, R. Farley, Cooper and Tarrant. Messs R. G. Porter, C. W. Packwood, and T. Hurley were elected new members. The Kaierau Football Club notified that it was agreeable to the Association using the club’s training shed on Spriggens Park during the show under certain conditions. It was desired that Mr J. Morgan, the ground caretaker, should be in charge. The secretary (Mr F. G. Seddon) reported that similar conditions applied to the use of the Rugby Union’s portion of the building. Received with thanks. With reference to class 67 in the schedule, the secretary reported that the word “shorn’* had .been dropped from the type. It was decided to write to Southdown breeders pointing out the error. Messrs Ellis Bros wrote stating that they read the conditions as though four tooth sheep would be competing against two tooths. The secretary quoted the wording as follows: “Eighteen months and under 30 months: “Evidently Ellis Bros had not read the last portion. Mr R. Farley: Only one class of sheep can enter —eighteen months afld over, up to 30 months. It was decided to reply pointing out the position. The Railway Department stated that 30 tarpaulins would be available at the Bastown shops, the hire charge being sixpence per sheet per day. These, the Association required as cover for cattle pens. Left to the secretary to arrange. Mr Cooper reported that two tons of mangolds would be available, the association being responsible for cartage. Left to Mr Cooper and the secretary. The appointment of a man to take •barge of the droving was left to the president and secretary to arrange. It was resolved that the president, secretary and Mr Nicholson arrange representation at the Hawke’s Bay Show to solicit entries for Wanganui. Air Monro and the secretary were instructed to act similarly at the Alanawatu fixture.

Air J. Bull advised that, owing to a clash of dates, hp, would be unable to act as judge in the light horse section. He recommended Air J. W. Simpson, of Heaton Park, in his stead. This was approved and the appointment confirmed, subject to Air Simpson’s stipulati V that his two sons be allowed in the judging pens with him in order that he might educate them to follow in his footsteps as judges.

Air Alex Donald declined the position of judge in the draught horse section and it was agreed that Mr C. Billinghurst be invited to act.

Air J. Hodges was appointed judge of the cows (crossbred section) and' was invited to give a demonstration after judging, pointing out the reasons for allocating of awards. Afessrs Spriggens, Green and Pattersou were appointed gate stewards and Alessrs Nicholson, Valentine and the secretary were elected to deal with space on the grounds.

It was resolved to advise Angora rabbit breeders that the Association regretted inability to find space for a show of these animals.

The secretary reported that several exhibitors at the British Industries Week in the Drill Hall had notified their willingness to establish a similar exhibition at the show if the space were allotted free of charge, Air Green considered that if the' matter was gone into thoroughly and several exhibitors got together on a space by themselves the idea was a good one. But for one or two to show if the space was free was no good. Air Nicholson: The winter show is the place for that. The secretary was instructed accordingly.
