AUSTRALIAN MYSTERY
HAPPENINGS AT CHURCH Women members of St. Matthew’s Church, Merrylands, are afraid to go to church and choir practice alone. Mysterious happenings have occurred (says a Sydney paper). When, Miss Kenyon, who had been organist for the past 18 years, arrived at the church on Sunday, she found that the key to tho main portion of the building, which had been kept on a hook inside, was missing, and one of the side doors was open. When her brother arrived he found the cupboard door wrenched off its hinges and two dozen spoons missing. During the Sunday night service the water tap was allowed to run and water flowed everywhere. On the Tuesday evening Miss Kenyon discovered the side door open and the key back in its place. During practice strange footsteps were heard and some of the choir were scared. Miss Kenyon stated that she was determined not to go near the church again alone, “It seems so queer that I am frightened of everything there. Everything seems uncanny,” she said. On the Thursday Miss Kenyon took everything of value from the church and locked them in her home 1 . One theory is that the communion wine may be the attraction. That, too, has now been removed to safety. Mr Kenyon said he thought boys were the cause of the trouble.
