Rotarian Harison Cook, of Wellington, and Mr Laffey, of Wanganui, were guests at the Rotary Club’s luncheon yesterday.

A Wellington Press Association message states that the resignation of Mr F. W. Rowley, 1.5.0., Secretary to the Labour Department for 16 years, has been announced. The duties of Mr Rowley, who is retiring on superannuation after 38 years’ service in the Depart).'ent, will terminate at the end

At the annual meeting of the Wanganui Motor Baat and Sailing Club, held on Saturday evening, several members spoko in appreciative terms of the good work accomplished during the past season by the club’s secretary, Mr M, G. Bignell. Mr Bignell wag again unanimously re-elected.

At the annual meeting of the Wanganui Central Swimming Club, held last evening, the president (Mr P. Dickson) proposed a motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr J. Reid. In the course of his remarks, he mentioned that in the death of Mr J. Reid, the club had lost a most valuable member, and the sport had received a seve.e I ,ow. The motion was carried in silence.
