CRANE OVERTURNS

MISHAP AT PORT AHURIRI While shifting a large and weighty pile-driving derrick in the vicinity of the cattle wharf at Port Ahuriri this morning, tho Napier Harbour Board’s travelling Browning crane over-bal-anced, the lift, combined with the heavy wind that was blowing at the time, apparently proving too great. The wheels of the crane left the rails on tho left-hand side and the crane tilted over, to come to rest on its side against a heap of concrete piles. The derrick which was being lifted dropped, and in doing so caused minor damage to a corrugated iron fence on some Harbour Board property. Luckily nobody was injured, and the accident caused no material damage to either the crane or the derrick. Employees of tho Napier Harbour Board were engaged on Saturday in replacing the crane of tho rails.
