THE WELLINGTON SALE Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Wellington sale of sheepskins hides and tallow, held last Friday, as follows: “We held our usual fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow and sundries this afternoon, at the Dominion Farmers’ Institute, when we submitted a large catalogue of all .descriptions to a full representation of buyers. “Sheepskins.—Good competition for all grades. In sympathy with the London market prices receded to 3d per lb. on previous quoted rates. Salted skins were eagerly competed for at prices about 6d to Is lower than last quotations. “Hides.—Owing to the overseas market being unsteady, the market to-day i was irregular, and prices generally, showed a drop on late rates. Some big lines of butchers’ hides were submitted, and sold at the following reductions. Heavy ox |d to 3-8 d lower; heavy and light cows fd lower; medium ox and cow 4d lower. A fair catalogue of kip and yearlings were submitted and prices for these showed a drop of Id to Id per lb. Calf sold exceptionally well and were firm at late rates. “Tallow.—A fair offering of butchers’ mixed, and odd packages came forward, prices being unchanged. Quotations:— “Sheepskins.—Halfbred 7jd to 12d, fine crossbred 8d to 12d, medium crossbred' B|d to ll|d, coarse crossbred 7|d to 10id, half-wools 6|d to IOJd, quarterwools 6Jd to ’ Salted: Pelts 3s, quarter-wools 3s to 5s ‘ld, half-wools 5s to 7s 7d, threequarter-wools 8s Id to 9s 9d, full-wools 9s to 9s 9d, extra large 10s 6d to Ils, lambs 2s 3d to 6s 7d. “Hides.—Ox 33/441bs 6Jd to 7 3-8 d; ox 45/521bs 6d to 7d, ox 53/591bs 6|d to , 7 3-Bd, ox 60/691bs to Bd, ox 70 lbs and over 5d to 8 l-Bd, cow 33/391bs G l-8d to 7Ad, cow 40/481bs 5d to 7 3-Bd, cow 491bs and over 5d to 6 7-Bd, kip ■ 25/321bs 4d to 7fd, kip 17/241bs, 5d to 8 7-8 d; yearling 11/161bs 5d to 10 3-Bd, calf, 9/101bs 9id to 9sd, calf 6/81bs lid to 14Jd, calf, l/51bs lOd to 14d. “Tallow.—ln tons 18s to 26s 6d. “Sundries.—Cow tails 18d per doz.
