THE WELLINGTON SALE Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Wellington sale of sheepskins hides and tallow, held last Friday, as follows: “We held our usual fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow and sundries this afternoon, at the Dominion Farmers’ Institute, when we submitted a large catalogue of all .descriptions to a full representation of buyers. “Sheepskins.—Good competition for all grades. In sympathy with the London market prices receded to 3d per lb. on previous quoted rates. Salted skins were eagerly competed for at prices about 6d to Is lower than last quotations. “Hides.—Owing to the overseas market being unsteady, the market to-day i was irregular, and prices generally, showed a drop on late rates. Some big lines of butchers’ hides were submitted, and sold at the following reductions. Heavy ox |d to 3-8 d lower; heavy and light cows fd lower; medium ox and cow 4d lower. A fair catalogue of kip and yearlings were submitted and prices for these showed a drop of Id to Id per lb. Calf sold exceptionally well and were firm at late rates. “Tallow.—A fair offering of butchers’ mixed, and odd packages came forward, prices being unchanged.
