THE “PIRATES OF PENZANCE”

AMBITIOUS WANGANUI AMATEURS. REHEARSALS UNDER WAY, In Connection with the forthcoming production of “The Pirates of Penzance,’* to be presented to Wanganui audiences for five nights by the Wanganui Amateur Musical and Dramatic Society, commencing at the end of September, it is pleasing to report that several accomplished singers have expressed a desire to take parts. The chorus work, which will be under the baton of Mr Gordon Mcßeth, already promises to be of exceptional merit. The chorus will consist of about 60 voices, the male section consisting of 24 voices. Of these, several are members of tl*j Wanganui Male Choir. Air Hubert Carter has generously offered his services to the Society, and his valuable assistance in the role of Frederick, a major part, will strengthen a very capable casjt. Those taking part in the production meet on Monday and Thursday evenings in AlcGruer’s buildings for practice.
