THE MAJESTIC.

“THE LODGER AND “LONDON LOVE.” Every little while a programing is shown that eclipses all that has been said about it in the advertisements. Such a one is now screening at The Majestic. Ivor Novello, the popular English player, is seen in “ The Lodger,” adapted from the story by Mrs Belloc Lowndes. To say that this production is a mystery one does not do it justice for it is impossible to fathom the real murderer in the several instances even though all clues and suspicions fall upon “The Lodger.” How he clears himself in the end and brings the culprit to book makes a most interesting and, as we said, a most mysterious story. The supporting attracion is ‘‘London Love,” featuring Fay Compton. This is a dramatic story of a film star’s rise to fame. The sam'e programme will be screened to-night again. THE GRAND “CLOSE HARMONY”—SILENT VERSION. Picture lovers will find a treat in store at The Grand to-day and tonight, when they see Paramount’s excellent silent picture “Close Harmony” with Nancy Carroll, Charles (Buddy) Rogers, Jack Oakie, Richard ‘Skeets’ Gallagher and Harry Green. “Close Harmony” is filmdom’s gift to the tired business man and his family. It gives an intimate view of the back stage life as it actually is, with its ambitions and heart aches, its pleasures and thrills. It is the nearest thing that patrons of Wanganui will see to a musical revue with a real Broadway setting. Buddy Rogers, one of the most popular of movie stars is the youthful conductor of a jazz band eager for stage life, who goes after a contract at a big theatre and makes good. This picture is sure to create a good impression amongst local fans and will prove to be one of the most interesting stories yet presented in motion pictures. The supports will include a full range of Paramount shorts. The orchestra de luxe, under the direction of Mr Geo. Holloway, will provide special musical numbers for “Close Harmony” making with a good picture and a good orchestra, an excellent evening’s entertainment. This programme is showing today and to-morrow only. On Saturday Paramount’s big mystery drama, “The Hole in th© Wall,” featuring Claudette Colbert, and Edward G. Robinson.
